Esin Alpogan — Biography

Esin Alpogan is an actress of theatre, film and television whose career is split between London and Turkey. She trained and took her first lead stage roles in London; in Turkey she has been seen in Çakallarla Dans 3: Sıfır Sıkıntı, Kara Bela and Canevim. She is also known as Esin Harvey and continues to live in London.

The daughter of diplomat Yiğit Alpogan, she grew up and attended French schools in Switzerland, the Netherlands, Greece and Turkey because of her father's postings, and graduated in 1997 from the Lycée Charles de Gaulle in Ankara. While studying theatre and communications at the University of Massachusetts Amherst she spent a year at Goldsmiths College in London on an exchange. She returned to London, joined an eight-week Shakespeare workshop at LAMDA, passed the entrance examination and graduated in 2004. She says she speaks English, French, Spanish and Greek well.

On stage she played leading roles in Heroes (National Theatre, 2007), The Recognition of Sakuntala (Union Theatre, 2009) and Who Will Carry the Word (Courtyard Theatre, 2009). On screen she played Canan in the series Ben Onu Çok Sevdim and the psychologist Pınar in Çakallarla Dans 3; Atatürk (2014), Naciye (2016) and the series Aldatmak (2022) are also in her filmography. In 2018 she married Görkem Mertsöz on Bozcaada.
