Engin Günay — Biography

Born in Trabzon on December 19, 1952, Engin Günay began his career on the stage before going on to build a long-running body of work in film and television. After training in journalism with a focus on radio and television, he honed his craft between 1968 and 1980 performing with established Ankara companies including Doğuş Oyuncuları, Ankara Birlik Tiyatrosu, and Çağdaş Sahne.

Following a period away from acting, Günay returned to the screen during the 1990s, taking on a steady stream of film and television roles. He appeared in the 2001 film "Hiçbiryerde," and in later years became widely recognized for his character in the popular series "Leyla ile Mecnun."

Having built an extensive filmography across dozens of productions, Engin Günay remains one of the familiar faces of Turkish film and television.
