Claudia Gravy — Biography

Claudia Gravy is an actress who has been a familiar face of Spanish cinema since the mid-1960s, appearing in many Italian and Spanish productions. Born Marie-Claude Perin in the Belgian Congo, she later became a Spanish citizen and has lived in Madrid since 1965.

She entered cinema in 1965 with Ninette y un señor de Murcia, Fernando Fernán Gómez's adaptation of a Miguel Mihura play. Over the following decade she appeared in dozens of films, both purely Spanish and international co-productions, among them Marquis de Sade: Justine, The Tigers of Mompracem, Bad Man's River (1971), Byleth: The Demon of Incest, The Nun and the Devil (1973, as Mother Carmela), Primo tango a Roma (1973) and A forza di sberle. She played an Amazon in Kilma, Queen of the Amazons, appeared in Tulio Demicheli's La llamada del sexo (1977) and played Vicky in The Creature (La criatura, 1977).

From the 1980s her roles became less frequent, but she kept working in supporting parts: Tuareg – The Desert Warrior and Yellow Hair and the Fortress of Gold (1984), Vicente Aranda's Libertarias (1996), Don Juan (1998) and Carlos Naranja Estrella's Dreams in the Middle of the World (1999). In recent years she has added recurring television roles and theatre to her screen work.
