Don Juan

Don Juan is a French-language romantic comedy from 1998, written and directed by Jacques Weber, who also plays the title role of the seducer. It is adapted from Molière's stage play Dom Juan and was Weber's first feature as a director; it is also described as the only cinema film he directed.

A co-production between France, Germany and Spain, the film has an international cast. Alongside Weber appear Michel Boujenah, Penélope Cruz, Emmanuelle Béart, Ariadna Gil, Denis Lavant, Michael Lonsdale, Pedro Casablanc, Claudia Gravy and Jacques Frantz. The story follows the legendary libertine who scorns social and moral conventions as he rushes from one conquest to the next, a character Molière built for the stage and who is brought to the screen here.

The film runs about 104 minutes and is classed as a romantic comedy.
