Çetin İnanç — Biography

Çetin İnanç was born in Ankara on September 12, 1941. After briefly studying law, he entered the film industry as an assistant director in the early 1960s and soon moved into directing his own films.

Known for low-budget action films throughout the 1970s and 1980s, İnanç earned the nickname "jet director" for the speed at which he worked, later recalling in an interview that he would shoot a film in around ten days even as producers pressed him to finish in six. His 1982 film Dünyayı Kurtaran Adam became an international cult phenomenon known abroad as the "Turkish Star Wars," and decades later it was screened in Spain and the United States.

Over a career spanning more than a hundred films and television series as director, screenwriter and producer, İnanç's prolific output and unconventional style have led some to describe him as "Turkey's Ed Wood."
