Berna Laçin — Biography

Berna Laçin is an actress who has left a mark on Turkish television series, theatre and presenting since the 1990s. Wide audiences know her from two popular comedy series of the 2000s, Evdeki Yabancı and Belalı Baldız. She has recently been on stage in the one-woman show Hayal Satıcısı.

Her father was a military pilot. She went to school in İzmir, and when she was admitted to Yıldız Technical University the family moved to Istanbul. While studying architecture she found acting pulled harder, left the course and in 1988 entered the theatre department of the Istanbul State Conservatory. She started professionally on the Kenter Theatre stage in Şafak Yıldızları and came to television in 1990 while at the Istanbul City Theatres. Her first film, Koltuk Belası, put her opposite Kemal Sunal and Kartal Tibet. In the 1990s she appeared in series such as Gökkuşağı, Böyle mi Olacaktı and Ateş Dansı; Evdeki Yabancı (2000) and Belalı Baldız (2005) were the peak of that run. The latter is an adaptation of the American series Hope & Faith.

She has also presented: the programme Taksi in 1996, the 31st International April 23 Children's Day programme in 2009, Her Şey İçin Berna Laçin on ATV in 2010 and Yerden Göğe with Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı on Star TV in 2011. On stage she has appeared in plays including Chapter Two, Couple en turbulences and The Decorator. She has been married to Tolga Eşiz since 1996.
