Berk Cankat — Biography

Ömer Berk Cankat was born on 9 May 1984 in Ankara. The actor, who is of Circassian descent, spent his childhood in Ankara, Eskişehir and Hatay because of his father's work as an architect and contractor, and was introduced to theatre during his school years.

After graduating from the Graphic Design Department of Bilkent University, Cankat trained in acting at the Akademi 35 Buçuk art studio in Istanbul and began working on stage. He made his television debut in 2013 as Savaş in the series Sana Bir Sır Vereceğim; after Medcezir, he became widely known as Cemal Alkan in Güzel Köylü and as İskender in Muhteşem Yüzyıl Kösem.

His career continued with the series Yıldızlar Şahidim, Gülizar (as Murat) and Bir Deli Rüzgar (as Uğur). In 2022 he played Mert in Sıfırıncı Gün and Koray in Aslında Özgürsün. He portrayed Ali Fuat in the Atatürk 1881-1919 films (2023-2024), joined the cast of Aşk ve Gözyaşı in 2025 and appeared in the third season of Zeytin Ağacı in 2026.
