The Most Wanted Man (L'Ennemi public numéro un)

The Most Wanted Man, also called Public Enemy Number One and titled L'Ennemi public n° 1 in French, is a 1953 French-Italian crime comedy directed by Henri Verneuil. Its Italian title is Il nemico pubblico n° 1, its German title Staatsfeind Nr. 1 and its Spanish title El enemigo público número 1. Fernandel, Zsa Zsa Gabor and Louis Seigner play the leads, and the cast also includes Nicole Maurey, Alfred Adam, David Opatoshu, Carlo Ninchi, Harry-Max and Arturo Bragaglia.

Shot in black and white and spoken in French, the film runs about 99 minutes. It was filmed at Cinecittà Studios in Rome, with sets designed by art director Robert Giordani. The screenplay is by Max Favalelli, Michel Audiard and Jean Manse, with Audiard credited for the dialogue. The music is by Raymond Legrand and Nino Rota together. It was one of the many co-productions between France and Italy in the postwar era.
