Tanha marde mahalle

The Only Man in the Neighborhood

Movie · 1972 · 3 people

Tanha marde mahalle (Persian: تنها مرد محله) is a 1972 Iranian action film directed by Davoud Esmaeili and written by Reza Aghili. Produced during the final decade of Iran's pre-revolutionary popular cinema, the Persian-language feature runs about 113 minutes. Its cast brings together performers familiar to audiences of the era, including Pouri Banayi, Farangis Farahzadi and Morteza Aghili, alongside Ezzatollah Ramezanifar, Yadolla Shirandami, Mohammadali Zarandi, Asghar Bichareh, Hossein Shahab and Reza Hajian. The title, roughly evoking the lone man of the neighborhood, reflects the neighborhood-centered storytelling common in Iranian commercial filmmaking of the period, and the production is classified as an action picture. The film stands as a representative example of the domestic genre entertainment that Iranian studios offered local moviegoers in the early 1970s.
