Unconscious Love (Şuursuz Aşk) (translated)

Şuursuz Aşk is a 2019 Turkish romantic drama that unfolds inside a psychiatric hospital. Menekşe is a young woman who has been undergoing treatment at the institution for some time. Yusuf, whose mind has broken under the weight of the torture he suffered, is admitted to the same hospital. Thrown together within its walls, the two damaged souls begin to lean on each other, and an unlikely love slowly blossoms between them despite their grim circumstances.

Umut Ertek wrote and directed the film, which stars İsmail Hacıoğlu and Ebru Şahin in the lead roles. The ensemble also includes Burcu Kara, Tuncer Salman, Ruhi Sarı, Erdal Ayna, Seher Terzi, Ali Buhara Mete and Emir Benderlioğlu. The 115-minute picture premiered in Turkish theatres on 27 December 2019.
