The Gendarme and the Gendarmettes (Süper Jandarma ve Melekleri)

The Gendarme and the Gendarmettes is a 1982 French comedy and the sixth and final chapter of the Saint-Tropez gendarme series that began in 1964. Ludovic Cruchot and his brigade are ordered to train four female auxiliary officers imposed on them by the higher command, and to keep watch over them, a task that quickly turns into a string of mishaps. It proved to be Louis de Funès's last screen appearance, alongside series regulars Michel Galabru, Maurice Risch, Guy Grosso, Michel Modo and newcomer Patrick Préjean, with Claude Gensac returning as Cruchot's wife. Director Jean Girault died during production, leaving his assistant Tony Aboyantz to finish the film. Despite harsh reviews it drew over four million admissions in France, the weakest box office of the series, and de Funès's death in January 1983 closed the cycle for good.
