Spray of the days

Spray of the Days (L'Écume des jours) is a 1968 French comedy-drama directed by Charles Belmont, adapted from Boris Vian's celebrated 1946 novel of the same name. The story follows Colin, a carefree and wealthy young man who falls in love with and marries the charming Chloé. Their happiness is shattered when a water lily begins to grow inside Chloé's lung, and she slowly wastes away. Colin spends his entire fortune filling her room with flowers in a desperate attempt to save her, while the whimsical, surreal world around them steadily darkens. The cast includes Jacques Perrin, Marie-France Pisier, Alexandra Stewart, Delphine Seyrig, Bernard Fresson and Sami Frey. Running about 110 minutes, the film brings Vian's blend of romance, absurdity and melancholy to the screen.
