Sheitan
Kim Chapiron made his feature debut with Sheitan, a French horror comedy from 2006 whose title is Arabic for "devil". He wrote the script together with his father, Christian Chapiron. The producer is StudioCanal, and the film also counts as a Christmas film. It brings together black comedy, sexuality and horror, with a grotesque streak that now and then shows surrealist touches. It premiered on 27 January 2006 at the Gérardmer Film Festival, reached French cinemas on 1 February and opened in Turkey on 30 June 2006. The running time is about 94 minutes.
On Christmas Eve in a Paris nightclub, three young men, Bart, Ladj and Thai, meet two girls named Eve and Yasmin. Taken by the girls' beauty, they accept Eve's invitation to her house outside the city. At the remote house they are met by the caretaker Joseph and Marie. The young men do not know what kind of trap they have walked into; black magic and satanic games are afoot. Joseph is played by Vincent Cassel, who also co-produced the film. Olivier Barthélémy plays Bart and Roxane Mesquida plays Eve. Cassel's then-wife Monica Bellucci makes a brief appearance. The cast also includes Leïla Bekhti, Nicolas Le Phat Tan, Gérald Thomassin and Mokobé.
