Raisa

Raisa is a 2015 Romanian-language short drama written and directed by Pavel Cuzuioc, running 15 minutes. The story follows Raisa, a woman who, one winter's day, travels into the city in pursuit of something she believes will change her life; set in Moldova, this brief journey conveys the fine line between hope and despair through a simple narrative.

The screenplay draws on real-life accounts compiled by Aurelia Zavtoni rather than pure fiction. Filming took place over just five days in January 2015 in and around Chișinău, with editing and post-production completed in Vienna. Cristina Flutur stars alongside Maria Sagaidac. Flutur, who shared the Best Actress award at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, helped this small-scale independent production gain attention on the festival circuit.
