Palio

Palio is a 1932 Italian historical drama directed and written by Alessandro Blasetti, produced by Cines, one of the major Italian studios of the era.

The story unfolds in the city of Siena during the medieval period, with the celebrated Palio di Siena horse race forming its backdrop. The long-standing rivalry between the city's districts and the passions stirred by the race drive the drama. The principal roles are played by Leda Gloria, Laura Nucci, and Guido Celano, supported by a large ensemble that includes Mario Ferrari, Vasco Creti, Ugo Ceseri, Anita Farra, Olga Capri, Gino Viotti, Umberto Sacripante, and Eugenio de Liguoro.
