My Life So Far

My Life So Far is a 1999 British-American drama film directed by Hugh Hudson. Written by Simon Donald, the screenplay adapts Son of Adam, the memoirs of British television executive Denis Forman, blending biographical and coming-of-age elements. The 98-minute film was produced by David Puttnam with music by Howard Blake.

Set in 1927, the story follows a year in the life of ten-year-old Fraser Pettigrew at the Kiloran estate in Scotland. The friction between his tradition-bound, change-resistant father Edward and his uncle Morris, who visits from London, deepens when Morris's French fiancée Heloise brings jazz and modern life into the house. The cast features Colin Firth, Rosemary Harris, Irène Jacob, Tchéky Karyo, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Malcolm McDowell and Kelly Macdonald.
