Remake, Remix, Rip-Off: About Copy Culture & Turkish Pop Cinema is a German-Turkish co-production documentary directed, written and edited by Cem Kaya. Produced by Jochen Laube, with cinematography by Meryem Yavuz and Tan Kurttekin, the film was made in both German and Turkish.
The documentary focuses on the fantastic Turkish films of the Yeşilçam era that were adapted from foreign, especially Hollywood, movies and TV series. Through interviews with the directors and actors of that period, it examines the long-standing practice of copying and remaking in popular Turkish cinema. The film was released on various dates between 2014 and 2016.
