Ascension (Miraç) (translated)

Miraç is a 2017 Turkish feature film that opened in cinemas on 21 April 2017 with a running time of 1 hour 29 minutes. Shot in Turkish, it is described across sources as a family-oriented picture blending drama and comedy with touches of adventure. Enes Hakan Tokyay co-directed the film with Nurten Erdemir, working from a screenplay by Yasin Öksüz.

The story follows Yusuf and Ali, two young village boys grieving for their friend Ahmet, whom they believe now lives in heaven. Determined to make their voices reach him, the pair collect advice from the villagers on how to climb to the seventh layer of the sky, turning the village upside down and stumbling from one adventure into the next. Through the children's innocent perspective, the film seeks to evoke the Miraç — the Prophet Muhammad's ascension.

The adult leads are played by Meltem Miraloğlu as Nuran and Ufuk Bayraktar as Rıfat, while child actors Arda Şahin and Emircan Çal portray Yusuf and Ali at the heart of the tale.
