Love and the Frenchwoman

Love and the Frenchwoman (La Française et l'Amour) is a 1960 French anthology film built around seven separate sketches, each devoted to the theme of French women and love across different ages and circumstances. Every segment was directed by a different filmmaker, among them Henri Decoin, Jean Delannoy and Michel Boisrond. Blending comedy with drama, the picture assembles a large ensemble of prominent French stars of the era, including Darry Cowl, François Périer, Robert Lamoureux, Jean-Paul Belmondo and Michel Serrault, alongside Annie Girardot, Claude Rich, Dany Robin, Martine Carol and Paul Meurisse. The film proved a major popular success in its home country, drawing more than three million admissions in France and ranking among the notable box-office hits of its year.
