Let Joy Reign Supreme

Let Joy Reign Supreme (original title Que la fête commence…) is a 1975 French historical drama directed by Bertrand Tavernier. Set in early 18th-century France during the Régence, the film draws on real events to depict the Breton Pontcallec Conspiracy. Philippe Noiret stars, alongside Jean Rochefort and Jean-Pierre Marielle. The screenplay was written by Tavernier together with Jean Aurenche and Pierre Bost.

The film won the Prix Méliès from the French Syndicate of Cinema Critics and four César Awards, including Best Director, Best Supporting Actor, Best Screenplay and Best Production Design, and was also nominated for Best Film.
