The Demons (Les Démons)

Les Démons (The Demons) is a 1973 horror and exploitation film written and directed by Jesús Franco, made as a co-production between France, Portugal and Spain. Released in Germany under the title Die Nonnen von Clichy, it belongs to the nunsploitation genre and was originally shot in Spanish, with filming taking place predominantly in Portugal.

The story unfolds in the aftermath of a witch trial: the condemned woman declares that her daughters will one day avenge her, and this vow sets up the film's central conflict. The cast features Anne Libert, Britt Nichols, Doris Thomas, Karin Field, Luis Barboo, Howard Vernon and Alberto Dalbés, while Iranian actor Cihangir Gaffari appears as Lord Justice Jeffries. Several versions of the film are known to exist; the longest surviving cut runs 113 minutes.
