Le Brasier

Le Brasier is a 1991 French drama film that marked Éric Barbier's feature directing debut. Set in a mining region during the 1930s, it revolves around the social struggles of the era. Jean-Marc Barr stars, alongside Maruschka Detmers, Thierry Fortineau, François Hadji-Lazaro and Serge Merlin.

With a budget exceeding 100 million francs, it was the most expensive production in the history of French cinema up to that point, and it went on to win the 1991 Prix Jean-Vigo. Despite this distinction, the film proved a resounding commercial failure, selling fewer than 40,000 tickets in the Paris region.
