La Chèvre
Written and directed by Francis Veber, the 1981 French buddy comedy La Chèvre marks the first on-screen pairing of Pierre Richard and Gérard Depardieu. Richard reprises his trademark accident-prone character François Perrin, while Depardieu plays Campana, the gruff companion drawn into his misadventures. Together they stumble through a string of mishaps and misunderstandings that drive the film's comedy. A French-Mexican co-production, it features a score by Vladimir Cosma. The chemistry between the two leads proved so popular that they reunited for Les Compères (1983) and Les Fugitifs (1986), completing a beloved comic trilogy. An American remake titled Pure Luck, starring Martin Short and Danny Glover, followed in 1991.
