Mixed Kebab (Karışık Kebap)

Mixed Kebab is a 2012 Belgian-Turkish drama film written, directed and produced by Guy Lee Thys. The score was composed by Michelino Bisceglia, with cinematography by Björn Charpentier, and the film features Dutch, Turkish and Arabic dialogue. It stars Cem Akkanat, Simon Van Buyten and Gamze Tazim.

Ibrahim, raised in Belgium and at home in a Western lifestyle, prefers to be called Bram. In love with Kevin, he is pushed into marrying Marina, the girl his family has chosen for him, and instead comes out to them as gay. His confession is met with escalating hostility from his father and his brother Furkan, turning violent. The film weaves LGBTQ+ themes together with immigrant identity, family pressure and the clash between tradition and modern life.
