Isabel

Isabel is a Spanish historical drama series directed by Jordi Frades and produced by Diagonal TV for Televisión Española. It aired on La 1 from 10 September 2012 to 1 December 2014 across three seasons and 39 episodes, chronicling the life of Queen Isabella I of Castile, remembered as Isabella the Catholic. Michelle Jenner stars as Isabel, with Rodolfo Sancho as Ferdinand of Aragon.

The first season follows her from birth through the civil wars over the Castilian throne and her marriage to Ferdinand, ending with her proclamation as queen. The second covers the years from 1474 to 1492, including the Castilian War of Succession, the establishment of the Inquisition, the expulsion of the Jews, the conquest of Granada and the start of Columbus's voyages. The final season deals with her children's marriages and deaths, closing with the queen's own death in 1504.

The story continued in a television film sequel, La corona partida, depicting events after the queen's death.
