Henry IV (Italian: Enrico IV) is a 1984 Italian drama film directed by Marco Bellocchio. Adapted from Luigi Pirandello's renowned stage play of the same name, with Bellocchio and Tonino Guerra sharing the screenplay credit, it tells of a nobleman who, after an accident, lives under the delusion that he is King Henry IV, while those around him indulge his fantasy and sustain an elaborate masquerade. Marcello Mastroianni and Claudia Cardinale lead the cast, supported by performers such as Leopoldo Trieste, Paolo Bonacelli and Giuseppe Cederna. The score was composed by Astor Piazzolla and includes Oblivion, a piece that became internationally famous. The film was presented at the 1984 Cannes Film Festival.
