Dubrowsky

Dubrowsky (Italian: Il vendicatore, released in Germany as Der Rebell von Samara) is a 1959 Italian-Yugoslav historical adventure drama directed by William Dieterle. The film is a loose screen adaptation of Alexander Pushkin's novel Dubrovsky, published posthumously in 1841, with a screenplay by Akos Tolnay.

John Forsythe and Rosanna Schiaffino take the leading roles, supported by a cast that includes Nerio Bernardi, Giulio Donnini, Johanna Hofer, Paul Dahlke and Guido Celano. Shot in Italian, the 113-minute production also features director Dieterle himself in a small on-screen part, and stands as an example of the period's European costume adventure cinema.
