Borgia

Borgia is a historical drama series created by Tom Fontana for Canal+, ZDF, ORF, and Sky Italia, produced as a French-German-Czech-Italian co-production. Set in the Renaissance, it follows the Borgia family's ascent to power and their hold over the Papal States, centering on Rodrigo Borgia, who was elected Pope Alexander VI in 1492 and is played by John Doman. Its directors include Oliver Hirschbiegel, Metin Hüseyin, and Christoph Schrewe.

The series premiered in Italy on Sky Italia on 10 July 2011 and reached North American audiences through Netflix. The second season debuted on Canal+ in France on 18 March 2013, while the third and final season began on 15 September 2014. The thirty-eighth and concluding episode aired on 27 October 2014, bringing the three-season run to an end.
