Bernadette

Bernadette is a 2023 French biographical comedy that marks the feature directorial debut of Léa Domenach, daughter of journalist Nicolas Domenach, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Clémence Dargent. Catherine Deneuve stars in the title role as Bernadette Chirac, wife of former French president Jacques Chirac, played by Michel Vuillermoz.

Framed as a satire, the film follows Bernadette through her husband's two presidential terms, from his first election victory in 1995 to the election of Nicolas Sarkozy in 2007. Denis Podalydès and Sara Giraudeau appear in pivotal roles. Produced by Karé Productions and Umedia, the film was released in French cinemas by Warner Bros. Pictures on 4 October 2023 and is known internationally as The President's Wife.
