Adiós gringo

Adiós gringo is a 1965 Spaghetti Western directed by Giorgio Stegani, produced jointly by Italy, Spain and France. Inspired by Harry Whittington's novel "Adios", it belongs to the genre's early wave, sticking fairly closely to the classic American western pattern. Giuliano Gemma takes the lead as Brent Landers, a young ranch hand who, after a cattle transaction turns sour, is forced to gun down a farmer in self-defence. Facing an unjust accusation, Landers fights to restore his reputation and demonstrate his innocence, a struggle that draws him into perilous escapades as well as a romantic involvement. Ida Galli, Nello Pazzafini, Roberto Camardiel and Jesús Puente round out the principal ensemble. Released to strong results in its home market, the film ranked as Italy's fourth top-earning domestic production that year.
