Gül, a famous singer, gives up the stage to marry Engin, a young lawyer and reserve officer. When Engin leaves for the Korean War, news arrives that he has been killed, and Gül gives birth to a daughter. Urged by her violinist Cemil, she returns to performing but gradually falls into drinking. Cemil, secretly obsessed with her, tries to trap her; meanwhile Gül discovers Engin is actually alive, yet Cemil's scheming leads Engin to misread the situation and they divorce, with Engin taking their daughter. Years later Engin loses his sight in an accident, and Gül enters his household under the name Seher as a caretaker, giving piano lessons to the grown Oya. When Cemil attempts to assault Oya, Gül kills him. Learning the truth, Engin defends Gül in court and wins her acquittal, and the family is reunited with hope for the future.
