Web of Passion (À double tour)

À double tour, released internationally as Web of Passion and Leda, is a 1959 French-Italian psychological thriller directed by Claude Chabrol. Adapted from American writer Stanley Ellin's novel The Key to Nicholas Street, it marked Chabrol's first film shot in colour and his first venture into the thriller territory that would define much of his later career. The cast features Antonella Lualdi, Jean-Paul Belmondo, Bernadette Lafont and Madeleine Robinson, and the picture helped bring the young Belmondo to the attention of a wider audience. Produced by Titanus, the film drew roughly one and a half million admissions in France and stands as an early landmark of the French New Wave's engagement with genre cinema.
