Suna Selen — Biography
Suna Selen is a Turkish stage, film and television actress born on 1 July 1939 in Istanbul. After finishing high school at Beşiktaş Atatürk Lisesi, she trained at the theater department of the Beşiktaş municipal conservatory; while briefly studying law at her family's insistence she began working with the Dormen Theatre, and she also took painting classes at the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts. She returned to the stage in the 1959-60 season in a play by Alejandro Casona, then gained wider recognition through a comedy adapted from Alber Husson, and won the İlhan İskender Best Actress award for her role in "Sizi Seviyorum Madam." She spent many years as a member of the Istanbul State Theatre company. Over a career spanning more than six decades she has appeared in close to a hundred films and television series, drawing attention in 1971 for playing the witch in a Turkish adaptation of a fairy-tale film shown at the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival. Later credits include Mektup, Ölürayak, Şahmaran, Su da Yanar, Devrimden Sonra, Kusursuzlar and Mucize 2: Aşk.
