Sevda Ferdağ — Biography
Sevda Ferdağ, born Lütfiye Dumrul, was born on 15 August 1942 in the Edremit district of Balıkesir and died on 17 February 2024 in Istanbul. She entered Turkish cinema with her first film at the age of sixteen, and after that early attempt she moved to Germany for a period, working as a model, before returning to Turkey a few years later at her sister's encouragement to resume acting. In 1963 she appeared in a rapid string of films that quickly established her within the Yeşilçam film industry, becoming known especially for playing femme-fatale roles. She acted in films including Cibali Karakolu, İstanbul'un Kızları and Günahsızlar, and later reached television audiences through the series Kavanozdaki Adam. She remained active in the 1990s and 2000s in series such as Yaprak Dökümü, building a career spanning more than five decades and close to fifty films and shows.
