Selda Alkor — Biography
Selda Alkor was born on January 3, 1943 in Konya to a Georgian mother and a Circassian father; she began her film career in the mid-1960s in productions such as İnatçı Gelin and Göklerdeki Sevgili, quickly becoming one of the sought-after young actresses of Turkish cinema.
Her career reached a new height with the role of Sümbül Karadağ in the 2002 television series Asmalı Konak, a part that earned her the nickname "Hanım Ağa" and the Best Actress award at the 30th Golden Butterfly Awards, alongside a Golden Orange honor the same year. She went on to lead cultural organizations such as TÜRKSAV and SODER and received an honorary award in 2021.
Alkor continued acting in later years, including the series Hicran Sokağı and Parmaklıklar Ardında, and in 2025 reunited with her former Asmalı Konak co-stars for a nostalgic gathering; she turned 83 in early 2026.
