Selahattin Taşdöğen — Biography

Selahattin Taşdöğen is an Erzurum-born actor whose career, running over half a century, has taken him from children's theatre to comedy stages, television series and feature films. He became widely known as Necmi Dede in Çılgın Bediş and through productions such as Vizontele and Kertenkele; more than 130 film and television credits are listed under his name, and he was still appearing in new films in 2025. He is also a trained painter and former teacher.

He first went on stage in 1969 with the Keloğlan Children's Theatre, then worked at the Türkbank Children's Theatre, and from 1974 moved towards cinema and television. On stage he has worked with the Bakırköy Comedy Theatre, the Istanbul Theatre, the Ercan Yazgan, Kenan Büke, Levent Kırca-Oya Başar and Yasemin Yalçın theatres, and the Istanbul City Theatres. Among his screen work are Çılgın Bediş in 1996, Vizontele (2001), En Son Babalar Duyar (2002) and Nekrüt (2008, as Hamza). In the 2010s he appeared in the series Kertenkele, played Sadettin in the film Aşk Nerede? and a doctor in Benzersiz.

He graduated from the painting department of Marmara University's Faculty of Fine Arts in 1986. He took on art direction for some productions, and for more than nine years taught art, art history and tourism in schools. His brothers Erkan and Naci Taşdöğen are also actors.
