Savaş Ay — Biography
Savaş Ay (26 March 1954, Istanbul – 9 November 2013, Istanbul) was a Turkish journalist, photojournalist, television presenter, director, screenwriter, producer and actor. Born Savaş Turanlı, he studied at the Marmara Academy of Commercial Sciences.
Ay first made his name in print journalism and news photography, but became best known for the television programme A Takımı, which he prepared and presented. In cinema he directed, wrote and produced the 2001 film Dansöz, in which he also appeared as Necmi, and he played Bekri Mustafa in the 1996 feature İstanbul Kanatlarımın Altında (Istanbul Beneath My Wings). He took smaller screen roles in series such as Yılan Hikâyesi, Bir Demet Tiyatro and Avrupa Yakası.
He died in Istanbul on 9 November 2013. The inheritance case brought between his heirs after his death was widely covered by the Turkish press and was concluded in 2024.
