Rojda Demirer — Biography

Rojda Demirer was born on 12 August 1980 in Ankara to a Kurdish family with roots in Diyarbakır; her father died of cancer when she was seven, after which she was raised by her mother and her older sister, actress Ruken Demirer. She is a cousin of actress Belçim Bilgin. In 1988 she passed the Children's Hour exams at TRT Ankara Radio and began in radio theatre; she graduated from the Theatre Department of the Ankara State Conservatory at Hacettepe University in 2001 and performed as a staff member of the Trabzon State Theatre from 2003 to 2008.

She made her film debut in Gönderilmemiş Mektuplar, a role that won her the Promising Actress award at the Altın Kelebek Awards. Her role as Esin in Melekler Korusun (2009) brought her the Best Supporting Actress prize at the 2010 İsmail Cem Television Awards; she went on to appear in Geniş Aile, Kördüğüm (2016), Adı Efsane (2017) and Çarpışma (2018), played Firuzan Türel in Maraşlı (2021) and Gökçe in Son Nefesime Kadar (2022), and appeared in the 2024 film Çakallarla Dans 7. Together with her sister, she co-founded a boutique chocolate shop in Nişantaşı.
