Kerem Yılmazer — Biography

Muhittin Kerem Yılmazer (2 February 1945, Denizli - 20 November 2003, Istanbul) was a Turkish actor, voice actor and singer. Over a career spanning some four decades he worked across a wide field, from the theatre stage to Yeşilçam films, from television series to the Turkish dubbing of foreign productions.

He graduated from the Faculty of Law of Ankara University, but did not pursue a career in law because of his leaning towards the arts. He worked as a singer in the 1960s and 1970s; his single Ah Sen Sen Sen / Hayat Boş was released in 1976. In his acting career he also served at the Istanbul City Theatres.

He appeared regularly in cinema from the early 1970s onwards. He played Sabri in Yaralı Kurt (1972) and Veli in Gelin (1973), directed by Lütfi Ömer Akad. In later years he was seen in productions such as Hababam Sınıfı Tatilde (1977), Hasret Sancısı (1983), Yoksul (1986), Yarın Yarın (1987), Sözde Kızlar (1990) and Zor Baba (2000); he played Kerim in Yoksul, Oktay Caner in Yarın Yarın and Kenan in Kızım ve Ben (1988).

On television he took part in series such as Kavanozdaki Adam (1987), Üç Kişilik Dünya (1993), Sevginin Gücü (1994), Mirasyediler (1995), Taksim - Sarıyer (1997), Pembe Panjurlu Ev (2001) and Çekirdek Aile (2002). His filmography also includes the Turkish versions of foreign productions such as 101 Dalmaçyalı (1961), İyi, Kötü ve Çirkin (1966) and Mac Kennan'ın Altınları (1969).

In 1979 he married Göksel Kortay, an actress, voice artist and teacher. He was killed on 20 November 2003, at the age of 58, in the second of the bomb attacks carried out in Istanbul.
