Hafsia Herzi — Biography

Hafsia Herzi, who has built her career as an actress, screenwriter and film director in France, was born on 25 January 1987 in Manosque to a family of Tunisian and Algerian origin. She first drew wide notice in Abdellatif Kechiche's The Secret of the Grain, a performance that brought her both a Marcello Mastroianni Award at Venice and, the following year, the César for most promising actress. More than a decade later, in 2019, she moved into directing with Tu mérites un amour, followed by Bonne Mère. The year 2025 proved a double milestone: her third feature as director, La Petite Dernière, screened at Cannes, and her performance in Stéphane Demoustier's Borgo won her the César for Best Actress.
