Göksu Başaran — Biography
Göksu Başaran was born on July 5, 1980, in Silistra, Bulgaria, and completed her secondary education at Hristo Botev High School there. She works simultaneously as a journalist, writer, and actress, and is also known as an advocate for LGBTQI+ rights.
As an actress she has appeared in the series Yaprak Dökümü (2006), Menekşe ile Halil (2007), Kalbimdeki Deniz (2016), and Kıyma, and took part in the 2021 web series Koza, which portrayed the life struggles of trans women; she drew attention to the project by saying "we are the other of the other in Turkey." In interviews with outlets such as Kaos GL and Bianet, she has repeatedly raised the discrimination faced by trans people in housing and employment.
Now based in the Netherlands, Başaran also stepped behind the camera in 2026, directing the short film Görülmek.
