Fabio Traversa — Biography

Fabio Traversa is an Italian actor best known for comic character parts. A real-life friend of Nanni Moretti, he appeared in Moretti's earliest films, and later turned up in Via Paradiso and in the Fantozzi series, in Fantozzi – Il ritorno and Fantozzi 2000 – La clonazione. Alongside acting he also worked as a screenwriter.

His career began in Moretti's circle. He acted in Moretti's first medium-length film, Pâté de bourgeois (1973), and made his feature debut in 1976 in Moretti's Io sono un autarchico; Ecce bombo (1978) is also in his filmography. In 1979 and 1982 he took the leading roles in two comedy-dramas directed by Vittorio Sindoni, Gli anni struggenti and Quasi quasi mi sposo. From the early 1980s he became a character actor who was cast mainly in humorous roles.

In that second phase he appeared in films such as Il minestrone (1981), Sciopèn (1982), Magic Moments (1984), Via Paradiso (1988), Compagni di scuola (1988) and Palombella rossa (1989); in Via Paradiso he played Avvocato Marrone. In 1990 he played the groom Mario in Le comiche and also appeared in Atto di dolore. He played a policeman in Fantozzi – Il ritorno (1996), followed by Fantozzi 2000 – La clonazione (1999) and It Can’t Be All Our Fault (2003).
