Emrah İpek — Biography

Born Emrah Erdoğan İpek on 1 January 1971 in the Ergani district of Diyarbakır province, he lost his father when he was a year and a half old. The family's move for his mother's job took him to the Alacakaya district of Elazığ, then still known as Gülaman, where he began primary school; a music teacher noticed his voice, setting him on a path into an amateur recording. While attending middle school in Diyarbakır, he released his first album, Ağam Ağam, in 1983 under the name 'Küçük Emrah' and quickly became one of the most popular young figures in Kurdish-Turkish arabesk-pop.

From the mid-1980s into the 2010s he appeared in dozens of films and series, composing music for some of them himself. In 2013 he wrote, directed and starred in Gelmeyen Bahar. He married Sibel Kirer on 16 June 2014. In a 2026 stage appearance, he moved audiences by publicly thanking his mother for his success.
