Emrah İpek — Biography
Emrah Erdoğan İpek was born on 1 January 1971 in Ergani, a district of Diyarbakır province, and lost his father at the age of one and a half. When his mother's work took the family to the Alacakaya district of Elazığ (then still called Gülaman), he started primary school there; a music teacher who noticed his voice helped him take his first steps with an amateur recording. In 1983, performing as 'Küçük Emrah' (Little Emrah), he released his debut album Ağam Ağam, and while attending middle school in Diyarbakır he became one of the most beloved young stars of Kurdish-Turkish arabesk-pop.
His acting career, spanning from the mid-1980s into the 2010s, included dozens of films and series, and he composed the music for some of them himself. In 2013 he both wrote and directed Gelmeyen Bahar, appearing on screen in it as well. He married Sibel Kirer on 16 June 2014. In a 2026 stage appearance, he moved audiences by publicly thanking his mother for his success.
