Deniz Akkaya — Biography
Born on 3 August 1977 in Istanbul to a Circassian family from Kayseri, Deniz Akkaya studied American language and literature at Istanbul University; she began modeling in 1996, was named Turkey's Best Model in 1997, and by the early 2000s had become one of the country's top-earning models and one of the leading names in Turkish fashion history.
Alongside modeling, Akkaya moved into acting, appearing in Yeşil Işık (2002), Okul (2003), Şarkılar Seni Söyler (2003), Metro Palas (2004), Ölümle Dans (2007), Maskeli Beşler: Kıbrıs (2008) and Altın Kızlar (2009). From 2006 she hosted Top Model Türkiye on Star TV and became involved in entrepreneurship and business ventures. Custody of her daughter Ayşe was awarded to the child's father by a court in 2024 following disputes between them, and Akkaya was later given a coercive prison sentence for violating protective orders taken out against her.
