Ali Zandi — Biography

Ali Zandi was an Iranian actor, born in Tehran, who appeared in popular productions of Iranian cinema from the 1950s to the mid-1970s. His name is mostly tied to the commercial melodramas and love stories known as Film Farsi, and he also worked as a producer. He died in Tehran on 15 May 2019.

His first steps were the 1955 films Khoon va sharaf (Blood and Honor) and Crossroad of Events, and the next landmark was Sahel-e Entezar (Waiting Beach) in 1963. His busiest years were 1967 to 1970, with Noah's Storm (1967), Sarnevesht (1967), Mard-e-rouz (1968), Yusuf ile Züleyha (Joseph and Zuleika, 1968), Moride Hagh (1969) and Ferhat ile Şirin (Shirin va Farhad, 1970). Yusuf ile Züleyha and Ferhat ile Şirin are screen versions of classic Eastern love stories.

In the 1970s he appeared in Eyvallah (Bravo, 1971), Pesar-khande (The Godson, 1973) and Oboor Az Marze Zendegi (Crossing the Boundary of Life, 1975), in which he played the character Jamashid.
