Akın Akınözü — Biography

Akın Akınözü, full name Süreyya Akın Akınözü, was born in Ankara on 22 September 1990. He is the only child of actress and voice artist Özlem Akınözü and Tamer Akınözü, and his maternal grandfather Süreyya Arın was one of the first presenters on TRT. After graduating from TED Ankara College he moved to the United States and studied applied mathematics at the University of California, Berkeley. Art classes he took there drew him toward acting, and after returning to Türkiye he trained at Craft Atölye in Istanbul.

He made his screen debut in the 2014 film Azrail and reached television a year later in Muhteşem Yüzyıl: Kösem. Supporting parts in Arkadaşlar İyidir and Payitaht Abdülhamid were followed by his first lead, Murat Aslan in Aslan Ailem, an adaptation of a Korean drama. Wide recognition came with Miran Aslanbey in Hercai (2019–2021), filmed in Midyat; the series became a hit abroad, above all in Spain and Latin America, where it brought him honours such as "Mister Nova".

He went on to play Cemal, a father of three, in Kaderimin Oyunu, Umut in Tuzak, which made him known in Russia, Kılıç Tütüncü in Yaban Çiçekleri and Timur Aslan in Veliaht. In 2026 he starred opposite Bosnian actress Merjem Šiljak as Sultan Alaeddin Keykubat in the ATV series Aşk ve Taht, a part he prepared for over five months. His late mother's name lives on in a workshop opened in Bingöl.
