Zeynep Bastık — Biography

Zeynep Bastık is a Turkish singer, songwriter and actress. Her date and place of birth are given differently in sources, either 5 May 1991 in Istanbul or 8 July 1993 in Çanakkale. Her family moved to İzmir when she was three, and she attended middle and high school there.

She began performing professionally in 2010 with Jackpot, a cover band in İzmir, touring cities such as İzmir, Eskişehir and Bursa with them until 2012. For a time she also worked as a dancer with Anadolu Ateşi. After singing backing vocals on Murat Dalkılıç's Lüzumsuz Savaş, she remained his backing vocalist for three years. With his support she released her first single, Fırça, with her own lyrics and music, on 31 October 2014, and went solo. Her breakthrough came in 2019 with her version of Ezhel's Felaket; covers of songs by Fikri Karayel, Harun Kolçak and Ümit Sayın posted on YouTube also helped build her audience. That year she released the duet Bırakman Doğru mu? with Anıl Piyancı, followed by Ara in 2022 and Eyvah in 2023. Her style leans on acoustic and electronic sounds.

As an actress she appeared in series including Adı Mutluluk, Yasak Elma, Sil Baştan and Umuda Kelepçe Vurulmaz. She was the face of Adidas in 2019 and Elidor in 2020, and in 2021 hosted Zeynep Bastık ve Konukları on Exxen. She married her manager Tolga Akış in July 2021; they divorced in July 2022.
