Yasemin Şamdereli — Biography
Yasemin Şamdereli (born 15 July 1973 in Dortmund) is a German-Turkish film director, screenwriter and actress. She studied at the University of Television and Film Munich.
She is best known for Almanya – Willkommen in Deutschland (Almanya: Welcome to Germany, 2011), a comedy-drama about three generations of a Turkish family living in Germany. The film had its U.S. premiere at the Berlin and Beyond Film Festival in San Francisco on 20 October 2011. Her work has been honoured with the German Film Award and the Bavarian Film Award.
Her second feature film, Samia, was released in 2025.
