Yaşar Nuri — Biography
Born Yaşar Məmmədsadıq oğlu Nuriyev on 3 September 1951 in Baku, Yashar Nuri died in the same city on 22 November 2012. His father was also an actor; after studying at the Azerbaijan University of Culture and Arts, he joined the company of the Azerbaijan State Academic Drama Theatre.
Over a career spanning both the Soviet and independence eras, he built a filmography of upward of fifty movies alongside well over a hundred credits on television and stage, playing comic parts as well as psychologically demanding dramatic ones. He played Israfil in Beyin Oğurlanması (1985) and Maşalla in Yaramaz. He was named People's Artist of Azerbaijan in 1989 and received the State Prize of the Azerbaijan Republic in 1991.
