Hasanağa Turabov — Biography

Hasanağa Turabov was born in Baku on 24 March 1938 and died there on 23 February 2003. He was an Azerbaijani stage and film actor who also worked as a director. During the Soviet era he became one of the leading figures in Azerbaijani cinema, taking starring roles in Babek and Sorgu and appearing in productions such as Atlari yaharlayin and Damadın Kaçırılması. He was twice awarded the Azerbaijan SSR's State Prize, in 1972 and 1986, and in 1982 was honored as an Azerbaijan SSR People's Artist. In his later years he kept acting in films including Yaramaz, Gənc Qadının Kişisi and Tahmine.
